The Houting-Project

A nature restoration initiative for one of the EU’s most endangered fish species.

Fisken Snæblen

The houting (snæbel in Danish) is one of the most critically endangered fish species in the European Union. It is on the brink of extinction, and urgent action is needed to ensure its survival.

With support from the EU’s LIFE Programme, Denmark has launched a large-scale nature restoration project valued at approximately DKK 100 million. The project aims to restore the natural habitats vital to the snæbel’s recovery.
