The forest is situated in very hilly area. The forest is the core area for the rare dormouse.
The Arreskov Lake is Fyns largest lake. A number of bird species including several duck species nest here. Most of the lake is a game reserves.

At the stream Rislebækken is a primitive camp site and at Arreskov Lake there is a bird tower and a fire place.
