Peter Ilsøe, Director General
Born in 1962, graduated with a degree in Forestry from the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University in 1987. Has held the position of Director since June 1, 2016.
From 2011, Deputy Director in the Danish Nature Agency. From 2010, also Chair of the Trilateral Wadden Sea Cooperation. From 1998, Forest District Manager in the Danish Forest and Nature Agency, Ribe. From 1996, Project Manager for the Skjern River Project. From 1991, Forestry Officer in the Danish Nature Agency’s Personnel Office. From 1987, Forestry Officer in the Ministry of the Environment within the Haderslev, Sønderborg, and Gråsten districts.
Signe Nepper Larsen, Deputy Director
Born in 1968, graduated in Biology with a cand.scient. degree from the University of Copenhagen in 1994. Has held the position of Deputy Director since August 1, 2016.
Employed from 1995–2016 in the Water and Environment Division of the consulting firm COWI, working with water and nature management as well as environmental assessment. From 2011, Head of Department; in 2010, Project Director; from 2007–2009, Senior Project Manager, and from 1995–2006, Project Manager and Specialist. In 1995, case officer with responsibility for the initial registration of Section 3 protected nature in Storstrøm County. In 1994, specialist in the Danish Forest and Nature Agency working with Section 3 protected freshwater meadows.
External lecturer and examiner in Biology at the University of Copenhagen, SCIENCE faculty, among others.
Mads Jensen, Deputy Director
Born in 1972, graduated with a degree in Forestry from the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University in 1997. Has held the position of Deputy Director since March 1, 2025.
From 2008, Head of Office in both the Danish Forest and Nature Agency and the Danish Nature Agency in a number of roles, including Forest Policy Manager, Operations Planning Manager, Commercial Forest District Manager, and from 2016 with Head of Office responsibility for strengthening the agency’s focus on wild nature. Between 1997 and 2008, Forestry Officer and Special Consultant in Haderslev, the Operations Planning Office, the Personnel Office, and the Ministry of the Environment’s department.
